Hi folk's here is my routine when I shave with a straight razor !
Here's a few tip's to help you along the way
First and most obvious, be sure your straight razor is in shave ready condition and has been well stropped before you start.
Its best to have a wet-shave just after a hot shower.
Create a nice creamy warm lather with your badger hair shaving brush and or quality shaving cream/soap, be sure not to rush this part......don't be afraid to spend a good couple of minutes working the lather into the face/whisker's with the brush.
I do a 3 pass shave, with the grain (WTG) across the grain (XTG) and against the grain (ATG) Take nice stroke's keeping angle relatively flat, use no pressure just enough to 'push' the razor through the beard (I had 10 day growth here).
At first you may not want to attempt the ATG pass until you get familiar with using a straight razor.....The key to this pass is the angle, you got to have the razor almost dead flat against your skin, anything other than that will tear your skin and cause razor burn.
Good luck and happy shaving !
