Lets Talk About Bevels

So what is a bevel you may ask ? well it's the sloping surface that meets at the cutting edge of the straight razor. It can be seen very clearly in this photo, notice how straight and uniform this bevel is thats because its a shave ready razor and is in tip top condition.
When honing straight razors the bevel setting stage is where the most work is at, once a solid bevel is established the rest of the progression is mearly polishing the bevel, removing scratch patterns from the previous level. Without a solid, sound bevel there is no point progressing further.....if the bevel is off so will be the "finished" razor.
